____Hunters
Info
For
the past 5 years we have been able to maintain an 100% success rate
with some bear weighing over 400 pounds. To help sustain the bear
population we limit hunters to our prime territory of 2,500 square
mile and rotate the different hunting ground, thus ensuring a quality
hunt year after year. For the upcoming season we will improve hunting
methods by promoting the trophy. We have chosen to spare cubs and
females as much as possible. A maximum of ten to twelve hunters per
location. We have three camps - Cooper camp is 6 hours, Lavigeur camp
is 5 hours, Windigo is 4 hours North of Montreal. All of these camps
you can drive to. I've been managing Lavigeur camp, for the past five
years. I have 95 baits for approx. 50 hunters. Thirty of these baits
have been in a new area, never hunted before. We bait our baits every
day, and will only kill one bear on each bait. I have used over 9
tons of cookies, and 2 tons of meat each year in my baiting. We keep
our baits well baited to hold the bear in the area. The average weight
of the bear is 175 to 200 pounds. If this same bear was harvested
in the fall, it would be a 240 lb. bear average. We do not kill, the
600-700 lb. bears, that Pennna. harvest. Keep in mind, the PA Game
Commission's report, a 145 lb. bear is the average harvested weight.
The Canadian Game Commision reported, of bear hunting license's sold,
they only had a 55% kill. Hunt with us and if you don't see an adult
bear, you can return free, or get a cash refund.
